Cooperation agreements with Russian libraries

Alexandria, 18 October 2005— The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has recently signed several agreements of cooperation with various national libraries in the Republic of Russia; namely the Russian State Library, the All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature, and the Central Public Library of Moscow.

The agreements promote the exchange of expertise and data in the library sciences, manuscript heritage, book science, history of printing, paper document preservation and restoration, in addition to acquisition, indexing and automation. The exchange will be realized through the co-organizing of seminars, workshops, conferences, as well as fairs.

The agreements also aim to support scientific research in the field of bibliographic heritage and printing of books, in addition to the free exchange of periodicals, journals, compact disks and multimedia material.
