Everyman in a Play Reading at the BA

Posted on

Alexandria— The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading session in English on Wednesday, 8 October 2008. Participants will read Everyman.

Everyman is a late 15th century English morality play. It achieves a beautiful, simple solemnity in treating allegorically the theme of death and the fate of the human soul—of Everyman’s soul as he tries to justify his time on earth.

This play presents the fate of human beings while death, when nothing benefits oneself, but his/her good deeds. The significance of this play lies in its educational purpose presented by symbolic figures, whose names indicate their actions.

The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
