Alexandria— The series “Ketab El Youm” issued September 2008 issue, the book "Al Fustat..Islamic Capital of Egypt" by Dr. Khaled Azab, Director, BA Media Department, and the winner of the State Incentive Award in Social Sciences for the “Bulaq Press” book.

Dr. Azab stated in the foreword of the book, which is divided into six chapters and lies in 176 pages, that the city of Fustat was neglected by Muslim writers and scholars as compared with other Islamic cities as Wasit, Kufa, Basra and Kairouan.

Dr. Azab added that this book is considered a triumph for the city, which is the first Islamic capital of Egypt in the 15th Hijri Century, in an attempt to draw a comprehensive image of the city's rise and fall, as is a witness on Egypt’s backwardness at the end of Alabidiin era (Fatimid).
