The BA Presents Muslim Scholars on Channel One

Alexandria— Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, will present daily a program entitled "Muslim Scholars" on channel one, during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The program is produced by the BA Studio.

Dr. Khaled Azab, Director of BA Media Department, stated that the program deals with Muslim scholars’ achievements in various fields and paths of knowledge; astronomy, medicine, mathematics and botany. The program sheds light on some scholars who were not well known. He added that the program reveals the depth of Arabs’ impact and how the Europeans benefited from the knowledge of Muslims, thus contributing to the rise of the modern Western Renaissance.

The program presents about 30 scholars in various areas of science, during the Islamic Renaissance, including: Ibn Rushd; Ibn Seena; Ibn al-Nafis; Ibn al-Haytham; Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī; Al-Kindi; Muhammad ibn Zakariya ar-Razi; among many others.

The program starts at 16:20 hrs and lasts for five minutes.
