Serageldin Invited to the 33rd Annual Conference on Economic and Human Development Cooperation for the Middle East and North Africa Region in Dubai

Alexandria— Mr. Jiro Nemoto, Chairman of the Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME) invited Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, to give a keynote speech at the “33rd Annual Conference on Economic and Human Development Cooperation for the Middle East and North Africa Region” on 27 August 2008 in Dubai. Serageldin will speak about Japan’s expected role in human development in the Middle East.

Top Japanese business leaders and intellectuals, Japanese ambassadors to the Middle East countries and high ranked Japanese government officials will participate in the Conference. The aim of the Conference is to discuss and exchange views on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

JCCME is an independent nongovernmental organization established in 1973. Its objective is to promote Japan’s economic and technical cooperation with the MENA region, under the full support of Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
