The Cocktail Party in a Play Reading at the BA

Posted on

Alexandria— The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading session in English on Wednesday, 11 June 2008. Participants will read The Cocktail Party by T. S. Eliot.

The Cocktail Party was first performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 1949, and in 1950 it had successful runs in New York and London theaters. It focuses on a troubled married couple who, through the intervention of a mysterious stranger, settle their problems and move on with their lives. The play starts out seeming to be a light satire of the traditional British drawing room comedy. As it progresses, however, the work becomes a darker philosophical treatment of human relations

The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library Entrance.
