Alexandria— The BA Literature and Linguistic Studies Committee is organizing a seminar on Saturday, 5 January 2008, entitled "Ancient Alexandrian Literature" attended by specialists and academics.

The seminar will tackle literature in Alexandria in light of the establishment of the Library and the Mouseion since the early third century BCE. The Ancient Library of Alexandria was the most famous in the Ancient World and the entire Middle Ages. It was not only the biggest Library containing books at that time, but also included scientific researches and reports by scientists, writers and thinkers from around the Mediterranean. The Ancient Library of Alexandria was an extraordinary cultural and intellectual complex, as it encouraged knowledge and openness to the other, and raised the slogan of science and knowledge in the world for more than seven centuries.
