Religion was part and parcel of the lives of ancient Egyptians; especially what pertains to life after death. The ancient Egyptian religion describes the deceased throughout his night journey with Ra, the God of the Sun, along with all the perils and creatures he faces during that journey until they reach their final destination, through religious inscriptions and writings such as Amduat, the Book of Gates, the Book of the Earth, the Book of Caverns, and the Book of the Heavenly Cow; all of which deal with the events of the journey from death to resurrection.

Therefore, the BA Antiquities Museum is organizing a lecture titled “The Journey of Eternity” on Monday, 5 February 2018 at 1:00 pm in the BACC Multipurpose Hall. The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Nehal Kamal el-Din Sayed Ahmed, Head of the Egyptology Department at the Faculty of Arts, and Vice Dean of Graduate Studies of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, University of Mansoura.

The researcher will discuss several main topics, including the description of the 12 hours of night that are spent by the God of the Sun in the other world;the Kingdom of Osiris and the Hall of Judgement; the fate of the dead whether the righteous or the sinners; the gods that aid the deceased throughout his journey; the creatures that threaten the deceased and hinder his journey; and what the deceased needs to know in order to survive the judgement and gain the fate of the righteous.
