The BA Visits Department has launched a campaign titled “The BA in Your School” for Alexandrian school students as part of the BA’s role in preserving history and increasing archaeological awareness among students. As part of this campaign, the department organized a cultural presentation for schools for all grades during the 2014/2015 school year, in cooperation with the Writing and Scripts Center, in order to spread cultural awareness among students and encourage them to visit the BA.
The show’s program includes visiting eighteen schools during the first term to introduce students to the BA’s different activities by presenting a brief history of the old library and its revival through the new library. They will also discuss the most important services offered by the BA to students, and the different sections of the BA, including the exhibitions and museums, as well as how to use the BA website. As for the kindergarten stage, entertaining shows about the BA will be presented through a cartoon character.
The Writing and Scripts Center will also offer an ancient Egyptian language (hieroglyphics) workshop to familiarize students with hieroglyphic signs and their equivalent in the Arabic language, followed by an Arabic calligraphy workshop, which will include an introduction to Arabic fonts and their aesthetics and uses in human civilization.
