The BA Publishes Encyclopedia about Grand Master of Arab Calligraphers Sayed Ibrahim

The BA published The Biography of the Grand Master: Sayed Ibrahim, A Reading of the Biography of the Grand Master of Arabic Calligraphy by Researcher Mohamed Hassan, Arabic calligraphy research specialist at the BA’s Calligraphy and Writings Study Center, as a part of a series of studies on contemporary calligraphy.
The biography talks about the most important stages of Sayed Ibrahim’s life and presents his most notable paintings, calligraphy, and writings about architecture inside and outside of Egypt.
Sayed Ibrahim is considered to be a pioneer in the art of Arabic calligraphy, and one of the most important second generation calligraphers in the Egyptian school. His role surpassed that of an artist and, later on, that of a teacher, who taught hundreds of calligraphers from all over the Arab and Islamic world. He is also considered to be an innovator, which is evident in his calligraphic formations, paintings, and his amazing calligraphic paintings which were converted from printed book covers and have become objects of interest to Arabic calligraphy enthusiasts.
The Calligraphy and Writings Study Center will continue its studies about Egyptian and foreign calligraphers living in Egypt in order to present a different image of the history of Arabic calligraphy in the country during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
