Regional Workshop on the “Fundamentals of Open Science” at the BA

The BA Information for Africa (BAIFA) Unit, in collaboration with the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN), organized a specialized regional workshop entitled “The Foundations of Open Science: Concepts, Principles, and Regional Application” on 5 and 6 November 2025, with the participation of more than 100 specialists and experts from various Arab countries and 26 speakers from Arab and international institutions concerned with developing scientific research infrastructure and promoting open science practices.
The workshop discussed open science concepts and policies, research data management, open publishing, digital infrastructures supporting scientific research, and opportunities for regional cooperation in building an integrated Arab open science ecosystem.
