The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med), in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy in Cairo and Snøhetta architecture firm, is organizing a lecture entitled "From Oslo to Alexandria: Designing for People and Planet... Crafting Environments that Invite Dialogue and Shared Ownership" on Sunday, 28 September 2025, at 5:30 pm, at the Conference Center's Small Theater.
The lecture will be presented by Martin Gran, a partner at Snøhetta, one of the world's most successful design and architecture firms, whose work combines creativity, innovation, and sustainability, with offices extending from Oslo and Paris to New York and Hong Kong.
It is worth noting that Snøhetta’s first significant commission was in 1989 to revive the ancient Library of Alexandria. It was followed by commissions for the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo and the National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion at the World Trade Center in New York City, together with a wide range of international projects involving important buildings around the world.
