The BA Hosts the Third and Fourth Cohorts of New Teachers

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosted this morning a ceremony celebrating the third and fourth cohorts of new teachers. It was attended by Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled Saeed, Governor of Alexandria; Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Dr. Araby Abu Zeid, Deputy Minister of Education in Alexandria; and a number of educational leaders from the governorate.
In his speech, the Governor of Alexandria emphasized that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attaches great importance to the development of the educational process, noting that the share of education in the budget jumped to 315 billion pounds this year. He said that the President recently approved the appointment of 100,000 teachers to join the 30,000 teachers who had already been appointed, noting that Alexandria’s share is approximately 2,300 teachers. He stressed that he was keen to meet with the new teachers at the beginning of their careers, in appreciation of their mission and respect for the role expected of them in promoting the values of loyalty, belonging, and love of the homeland in the hearts of the new generation.
He also praised the significant role played by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in spreading scientific, cultural, and intellectual values in the region, and called on the new teachers to take advantage of its services.
Dr. Araby Abu Zeid, Deputy Minister of Education in Alexandria, said that there would be no classrooms in Alexandria schools without teachers. He added that this year saw the addition of 1,000 new classrooms, as 1,200 teachers are expected to enter service in the second half of the semester.
Following the ceremony, the new teachers took their oath amid a festive atmosphere to celebrate the beginning of their professional careers.
