The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is preparing to launch the nineteenth edition of its International Book Fair, from 15 to 28 July 2024, in cooperation with the General Egyptian Book Organization and the Egyptian and Arab Publishers Association.
This year’s Fair features 77 Egyptian and Arab publishing houses, together with a children's pavilion that includes more than ten publishing houses specialized in children's books, and another pavilion dedicated to Sour el-Azbakeya for old and rare books.
On the sidelines of the Fair, an integrated cultural program will be held that offers a wide range of events (more than one hundred events) including seminars, lectures, workshops, and conferences, and covers different topics such as history and literature, artificial intelligence and the creative industries, Egyptian drama, the arts of writing, media, youth, women, children, Egyptian cultural relations, and publishing.
Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, mentioned that the Library is keen on the active and strong participation of Alexandria's creative figures in its cultural program, due to their influential presence in the Egyptian and Arab arenas. These prominent figures will take part in a series of interactive seminars under the title "The Many Faces of Alexandrian Creativity.”
Dr. Zayed also stated that the BA will be launching a Reading Award, the full details of which will be announced during the Fair’s opening session.
