The BA Tenth International Biennale for the Artist’s Book
Posted on
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing the tenth round of its International Biennale for the Artist’s Book on Tuesday, 30 August 2022, at 2:00 pm, in the BACC East and West Exhibition Halls.
The Biennale has received special attention from local and international artists, due to the success of its previous rounds and their distinguished content since the beginning of the Biennale with the birth of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in 2002.
The Biennale rounds were regularly held every two years, except the ninth round of 2020, which did not take place because of the global spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
This year’s round witnesses the participation of 18 artists from Egypt and 14 artists from Canada, in addition to 23 artworks presented by “Arte Dos Graficos” Gallery in Bogota, Colombia – in cooperation with the Embassy of Colombia in Cairo. The exhibition also features 25 artworks from “La Diane Française” publishing house in Nice, France. The house’s owner and director Mr. Jean Paul Aureglia has always been keen to participate in this event and present the displayed original artworks as a gift to the BA, to be added to its permanent collection, in recognition of its role in the dissemination of cultural awareness.
It is worth mentioning that the participating artworks vary in their content, concept, and techniques, but share the essence of the event, which revolves around the idea of the “book”, the “writing”, the “story”, the “storytelling”, the “storyboard”, or the use of letters and symbols in the artwork. In this respect, artists are not bound by certain limitations, and are able to tell and express their stories in an authentic way that remains relevant to the overall concept of the exhibition.
The exhibition runs until Sunday, 25 September 2022; daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, except on Fridays.
