In celebration of the Day of the Mediterranean, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lit the Conference Center’s screens with the logo of the celebration, which took place on Sunday, 28 November 2021.
Egypt and other Member States of the Union for the Mediterranean celebrate 28 November as the Day of the Mediterranean, which was adopted by the Member States last year, in commemoration of the silver jubilee of the “Barcelona Process” that was launched in 1995 and laid the foundation for the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
Egypt is celebrating this international day, believing in the distinct identity of the Mediterranean Basin countries, and stemming from the unique role it has played over the centuries through its special location on the Mediterranean – a location that embraced many cultures and civilizations, and is reflected in the city of Alexandria and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
