The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organizes a conference entitled “Illegal Migration in the Mediterranean Basin” on Wednesday and Thursday, 14 and 15 July 2021.
The Conference is held in light of the Egyptian state’s concern with the phenomenon of illegal migration and its different repercussions. It tackles the efforts exerted by Egypt in combatting this issue at the legal level. It also underlines the security measures, international cooperation, social welfare programs, civil society initiatives, as well as the development projects that address the reasons behind young people's illegal migration.
Participants in the event include representatives of official entities, namely the National Committee for Preventing and Combating Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking, the Administrative Control Authority, the Egyptian Public Prosecution, the legislative institutions, and the Ministries of Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports, and Emigration respectively. Moreover, representatives of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, the Arab League, and the International Organization for Migration are expected to take part in the Conference, together with a host of Arab experts, researchers, media professionals, public figures, and a large number of young people from various Egyptian governorates.
