“The Art of Tally” at the BA Sinnari House
Posted on
The BA Sinnari House organizes a workshop for young people on the art of ‘Tally’. It will be held throughout March at the BA Sinnari House in Cairo.
The workshop aims to introduce the art of ‘Tally’ – an ancient pharaonic form of art passed down through generations – and explore how its silver threads can be used in the embroidery of cotton fabrics and the ornamentation of clothes and furniture. Moreover, it attempts to safeguard this endangered original Egyptian art, and teach participants a hobby or craft with a small capital for starting micro-projects.
The workshop will be given by Ms. Magda Abdel Rahim, Handicraft Specialist, whose work is characterized by precision and beauty emanating from the Egyptian milieu. She delivered several workshops on the art of Tally, and participated in many art exhibitions.
The workshop consists of 8 lectures (2 per week; Sundays and Wednesdays), from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. It targets young people aged 18 and above, and will start once the maximum capacity is reached (15 participants). Registration is required.
