Workshop: Modern Scientific Methods for the Conservation, Display, and Storage of Archaeological Wood

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Manuscript and Antiquities Museums are organizing a workshop entitled “Modern Scientific Methods for the Conservation, Display, and Storage of Archaeological Wood Applied on Wooden Manuscript Covers”, from 10 to 12 November 2020, at 11:00 am, in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center, Meeting Room E.
The workshop is delivered by Dr. Said Abdel-Hamid Hassan, Wood Restoration Expert and General Director at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. It examines the best practices and modern scientific methods in curing and maintaining archaeological wood in general, and colored and gold-plated wood in particular, as applied on some wooden manuscript covers and several other wooden antiquities, such as icons, wooden artifacts, and paintings.
