The Fourth Round of “Ecrire la Méditerranée”
Posted on
The fourth round of “Ecrire la Méditerranée” is held from 9 to 14 April 2013, entitled “Exiles of the Mediterranean”.
The event hosts writers who were born in the Mediterranean region but left to live in another place. They represent exile with all its different forms and emotions: homesickness and the pain to return, ecstasy of the unknown and the loss of reference points, the conquest of freedom and the internal self-journey. It is a multifaceted story: their personal story, their families’ story, and definitely the stories of their fictional characters.
The event features Ibrahim Abd El-Meguid (Egypt), Vassilis Alexakis (Greece, France), Maram El-Masry (Syria), Isabelle Alonso (France), Mohamed El-Dahshan (Egypt), Louis Gardel (France), Golo (France), Nedim Gursel (Turkey), Minna Sif (France) and Bahaa Taher (Egypt). They will exchange their views with the public in French and Arabic, together with this round’s guest of honor Writer and Theatrical Director Wajdi Mouawad (Lebanon, Quebec).
Launched in 2010, “Ecrire la Méditerranée” is co-organized by l'Institut français d’Égypte à Alexandrie, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and le Centre Méditerranéen de Littérature, with the support of AnnaLindh Foundation, Sofitel Hotel, Gudran Foundation, le Centre d’Etudes Alexandrines, and Ahram Hebdo, and the contribution of Alexandria University, Sengor University and the French School in Alexandria.
