The BA Calligraphy Center organizes a series of workshops for children and young people from 9 to 16 years old entitled “A Journey in Egypt throughout the Ages” during the mid-year vacation.

The journey starts in Ancient Egypt and ends in the modern era, including the Greek and Coptic periods, to introduce children to the cultural and linguistic diversity Egypt has been through.

The journey starts on 20 January 2013 with the Ancient Egyptian period. Children will get introduced to the daily lives of their ancestors as well as the Ancient Egyptian Language.

The next stop is the Coptic Period on 23 January, starting from the visit of the sacred family, the introduction of Christianity in Egypt and the emergence of priesthood. Children will also get acquainted about Christian feasts and the development of the Ancient Egyptian Language.

This will be followed by a journey in the Greco-Roman period on 27 January, including the arrival of Alexander the Great, the construction of Alexandria and the role of the Ptolemy dynasty until the arrival of the Romans. Children will get to know the basics of the Ancient Greek alphabet.

The final stop is the Islamic era on 30 January which will also focus on Arabic calligraphy.
