The BA Memory of Modern Egypt (MoME) project will participate in the "Discover Modern Egypt" celebration in Paris, which is hosted by the Egyptian Cultural Bureau in Paris during the period from 1 to 13 October 2012, in commemoration of the 39th anniversary of the October War.
The Celebration intends to connect the Egyptian community in France with their homeland, and introduces Egypt's modern and contemporary history to French and European people through the exhibition of rare collection of photographs of October War and modern Egyptian revolutions and wars throughout the last two centuries. The event will also feature an exhibition of BA publications and catalogues, as well as screening of the MOME documentaries, such as "Memory of Modern Egypt”, "Sadat" and "Gamal Abdel Nasser".
The Opening features a talk by Mahmoud Ezzat, Head of MOME Unit at the BA, the Egyptian Ambassador in Paris, Professor Amal El-Sabban, Egyptian Cultural Attaché in the Egyptian Embassy in Paris, and a number of Egyptian senior officials and diplomats in France, as well as members of the Egyptian community in France.
It is worth mentioning that the celebration is the second event held by the Memory of Modern Egypt in Europe, following the Exhibition “Memory of Modern Egypt: Discover Egypt in the 19th and 20th Centuries” hosted by the Vilnius University Library in Lithuania from 1 to 31 March 2012.
On the fringe lines of the ceremony, Mahmoud Ezzat will deliver two lectures entitled “The History of the October War: the Journey of War and Peace", and the "Memory of Modern Egypt Project".
