Draw and Discover Competition 2019
Posted on
The BA Antiquities Museum holds the “Draw and Discover” Competition for participants in the Museum Education Program between ages 9 and 16. The competition revolves around a chosen figure from Greek mythology. This year’s round focuses on Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty who the Romans referred to as Venus. The chosen archaeological piece is part of El-Muhammara Collection.
Through the Museum's Education Program, this annual competition helps spread knowledge among the Museum's patrons, with an aim to promote the spirit of belonging between young people, help develop their talents, and showcase their artistic creations.
The Museum of Antiquities celebrates the winners by presenting three valuable prizes for painting and three others for research.
The competition is divided into two categories. The first category entails that participants present a drawing of the artifact in question, focusing on its details, through the image available on the Museum's website. In the second category, participants will be asked to conduct an accurate age-appropriate research on the aforementioned artifact. The submitted research papers must consist of at least six pages. An introductory lecture on Aphrodite will be delivered in order to assist the participants in their research.
The competition is held from 25 September to 25 October 2019, and registration begins on Wednesday, 15 September 2019.
