Dr. Elfeki Stresses the Importance of Egypt’s Close ties with Greece throughout History during his Meeting with President of Greece

Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, met with the President of Greece, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos and Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, Founder and President of the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation”, as part of his current visit to Athens.
H.E. Mr. Pavlopoulos praised the role of the BA as a beacon of enlightenment and an epicenter of the dialogue of cultures. He also expressed his desire to adopt a world program for the dialogue of cultures, to be based in Egypt and Greece, since they are both regarded as the bedrock of the Mediterranean civilization.
Dr. Elfeki stressed the importance of Egypt’s close ties with Greece throughout history. He also referred to the BA attempt to make use of the Grand Antoniadis Palace and transform it into a major center for the dialogue of cultures. Moreover, he added that the BA will commemorate the Greek Poet, Constantine Cavafy as part of its plan to celebrate 10 years since the establishment of the Hellenistic Studies Center.
