CULTNAT Launches a Siwan Heritage Documentation Project

The Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), affiliated to the BA and based in Cairo, has launched a project to document the tangible and intangible heritage of Siwa oasis in Matrouh Governorate.
The project aims to document all aspects of the oasis heritage: customs, traditions, crafts, art, music, poetry, sculpture, accents and dialects, natural protectorates, among others, in cooperation with local public offices and associations as well as COSPE Egypt.
The project will last for around 5 years and will include a training program for the inhabitants on modern tools of heritage documentation, in addition to the issuance of a comprehensive publication on the heritage of Siwa, and opening a visitors’ center.
