The Bibliotheca Alexandrina will inaugurate the “Art: Shared Spaces” exhibition on Monday, 19 December 2018 at 2:00 pm. The inauguration will be preceded by a seminar titled “Alexandrian and Canadian Artists: Means of Encounter”. The two-hour seminar will start at 12:00 pm and will be presented by Canadian and Egyptian key figures.

This exhibition represents the first meeting between the artists of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria, and the artists of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (University of Québec, Trois-Rivières – UQTR), Quebec, Canada. It signifies a joint artistic dialogue among varied ideas and different artistic trends and movements. It also conveys the heart and essence of the joint communication between both universities, which started with the “Alexandrian Artists – Egypt” exhibition that was held at the UQTR gallery in Quebec in 2016 and featured 14 Alexandrian artists from different specialties such as painting, sculpture, and print designs. It aimed to communicate the artists’ ideologies and artistic schools, represented by the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria, in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, which took on the role of transferring the artworks to Canada and funded the travel expenses of the exhibition's curators and two artists who represented their Alexandrian peers.

The exhibition will showcase a diverse collection of artworks such as paintings, mosaic pieces, and print artworks executed using different materials, as well sculptures and photographs. It will until Saturday, 12 January 2019.
