The BA Arts Center Celebrates Christmas and New Year in December

The Arts Center at the BA organizes several events and art activities this December. They start on Wednesday, 12 December with the theatrical performance Autumn Leaves, written and choreographed by Mohamed Abdel Sabour.
The December program also includes “Arts School: Ballet Prime,” on Thursday, 13 December, and the Metropolitan Opera La Traviata, on Saturday, 15 December.
On Sunday, 16 December, the public will be able to watch the theatrical performance The Old Lady’s Visit, directed by Mohamed Osama Atta. On the same day, the film Photocopy will be screened, followed by a discussion with the director. It stars Mahmoud Hemida and Sherine Reda, and directed by Tamer Ashry. It won the Golden Star Award at El Gouna Film Festival.
On Monday, 17 December, the documentary On the Same Boat will be screened. It is directed by Stefania Maurizi. On Tuesday, 18 December, the dance performance Post Damage will be held. It is choreographed and staged by Mohamed Fouad, while on Wednesday, 19 December, a lecture entitled “The History of Jazz” will be delivered by Dr. Salah Hashem.
On Thursday 20 December, and Friday 21 December, the theatrical performance The Fool, directed by Yassmine Saeed, will take place. It is a story by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, a pioneer of world literature and the Realistic movement.
Christmas celebrations will start on Saturday, 22 December, with a violin and harp recital by violin soloist Yasser Al-Serafy and harp soloist Mona Wassef. On Sunday, 23 December, a concert by Tunisian Mohamed Ben Saleh will be given. Meanwhile, Atteyat Elabnoudy’s films Horse of Mud, Sad Song of Touha, and Rawya will be screened. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Dr. Asmaa Yehia Eltaher Abdallah.
On Wednesday, 26 December, the Arts School Suzuki Concert will be held, while on Saturday, 29 December, the BA Chamber Orchestra, the BA Youth Orchestra and the BA Choir will give a New Year’s performance.
On Sunday, 30 December, three documentaries from Asyut will be screened: Let it Be, directed by Marina Maher; The Seventh Sky, directed by Christine Hanna; In Between, directed by Meyer Isaac. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the directors of the films and the documentarist Nadia Kamel. Finally, on Monday, 31 December, the theatrical performance Icarus, directed by Ahmed Ezzat Elalfy, will be held.
