The Library of Alexandria held a session today titled “Diversity is the Base of Knowledge”, as part of the “Gift of Diversity” Conference. The session was attended by Marco Bersanelli, Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics, University of Milan. Dr. Salah Fadl, Vice President of the Arabic Language Academy, Dr. Khaled Azab, Head of the BA Central Projects and Services Sector, and was moderated by Dr. Ashraf Farrag, BA Consultant.

Dr. Bersanelli stated that the study of Astrophysics is a tool to perceive the history of universe, and all its evolution stages which led to the existence of planet Earth. Dr. Bersanelli added that humanbeing is the center of universe based on an epistemological perspective not a geographical one.

Dr. Salah Fadl, Vice President of the Arabic Language Academy, said that humanity since its early existence misunderstood diversity, which led to the emergence of  wars among communities. Religions were intended to guide people that change and diversity are means for acquaintance and integration.

Dr. Khaled Azab, Head of the BA Central Projects and Services Sector, pointed out to the Museum of Religions, which the BA is currently establishing under the theme of “Egypt is the Land of Tolerance”, reassuring that Muslims respect and believe in all religions so they can coexist and respect different believers.

Dr. Ashraf Farrag, BA Consultant, assured that societies which suffer from racism are fragile and hostile, as they failed to benefit from the gift of diversity to face terrorism, compared to other societies which benefited from pluralism like Canada.
