Contests within the Drama Workshop

The BA Main Library holds a Drama Workshop based on George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm in which participants will turn the novel to a theatrical performance.
Within the workshop, an Essay Contest is held in Arabic and English languages, as well as a Cartoon Contest.
Deadline for sending works is 15 September. Winners will be announced during the Drama Workshop Closing Ceremony on 24 September 2011.
Animal Farm is a dystopian (anti-utopian) allegorical text that satirizes the former Soviet Union. It opens with the animals revolting against the farm owner, renaming it “Animal Farm” and creating their own philosophy, “Animalism”. However, slowly, the pigs take over the farm, reducing Animalism to “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others”. Towards the end, the common animals can no longer tell which are the pigs and who are the human beings.
