Kuwait Honors the BA

Dr. Khaled Azab, Head of the BA Central Projects and Services Sector, was awarded an honorary shield courtesy of H.E. Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Minister of Information of Kuwait, as part of the Arab Media Forum event continuing on the 23rd and 24th of April.
The award is a testament to the BA’s outstanding professionalism, as well as its major contributions to contemporary Arab culture. Secretary General of the Arab Media Forum Madhi Al-Khamis furthermore stated that the BA plays a significant role in benefiting Arab culture in digital space, particularly in regards to its initiatives in promoting reading on mobile screens.
During a special session of the Arab Media Forum chaired by Parween Habib, Dr. Khaled Azab discussed the BA’s achievements and affirmed that it had welcomed over one million visitors in 2016, while its website had received approximately a billion visitors in the same year. He furthermore announced that the BA will launch the most ambitious project in the Arab world of archiving and documenting Arab history, and how, in collaboration with researchers working with the library, it has documented Syria’s archeological writings.
On the other hand, Dr. Khaled Azab also announced the BA’s production of several documentaries, scientific films, and programs, and how the BA has included international and local partnerships to further develop in the field. Moreover, he highlighted the extensive programs the BA has launched for the purpose of promoting direct interaction between researchers and readers through the internet.
