“The Points of Views of Francophone Women Around the World” Conference

On the occasion of celebrating International Women’s Day (8 March) and the silver jubilee of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Egypt (CCIFE), and in cooperation with CCIFE and with Senghor University in Alexandria, the BA is organizing a major conference titled “The Points of Views of Francophone Women Around the World” to be held on 15 and 16 March 2017. The conference will bring together a group of prestigious Egyptian, Arab, African, and Francophone persons who specialize and are concerned with a number of different fields, including political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, artistic, social, media, and medical fields.
The event is financially and technically sponsored by the CCIFE; Senghor University in Alexandria; the International Business Driving License (IBDL) Foundation; the Canadian embassy in Cairo, which is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada; Institution Sainte Jeanne-Antide in Alexandria; the French Department of the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University; the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF); the French Institute of Egypt (IFE) in Alexandria; Provincial Council of Cultural Societies (CPSC), New Brunswick, Canada; Compagnie Bel Viaggio, France; and others.
The conference’s main objective is to retrace the most notable successes of today's woman who daringly embrace all areas of human activity, with special focus on Francophone women, and how they play a key role in Francophone communities and countries worldwide. These women always struggle in a world led by complex and endless networks of conflicts.
This major event will be held at the BA and will host various esteemed guests and participants, including Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA; Ghada Waly, Minster of Social Solidarity; Nabila Makram Ebeid, Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs; Dr. Marwa El-Sahn, Director of the BA Center of Francophone Activities (CAF); Counsellor Isabelle Savard, Embassy of Canada in Egypt; and numerous other diplomatic and academic figures.
The conference closing session will include a theatrical performance by Francophone students who participated in a workshop given by Chantal David, Artistic Director of Compagnie Bel Viaggio in France, followed by another theatrical performance featuring Chantal David herself. A third play will then be performed by the students of La Mère de Dieu College, Alexandria, under the direction of the school principal Mona Magdalany, followed by a slam poetry performance.
The closing will conclude with the distribution of certificates and awards to the participants and the winners of the previously announced PICADELF Dictation Competition and Famous Francophone Women competition.
