The BA will hold the celebration on 9 March coinciding with the International Women’s Day on 8 March.
The celebration this year will be held under the title “Thaïs and Verena” after the two famous saints. A number of Christian and Muslim women who played an active and vital role in Coptic heritage will be honored during the event, including the late Iris Habib Elmasry, author of Story of the Coptic church; Kamilia Makram, the current Director of the Coptic Museum; and Dr. Shaza Ismail, professor of Coptology at Helwan University.
During the celebration, several prominent female saints and martyrs in Coptic history, as well as the martyrs of the Petrine (El-Botroseya) Church, will be commemorated. The celebration will also include various lectures through which researchers and specialists will shed light on a number of significant female Coptic figures in Coptic history.
The “Annual Coptic Heritage Day” celebration will also include an art exhibition of icons of the most prominent female, Egyptian Coptic saints throughout history. The exhibition will showcase the works and contributions of 20 artists. The celebration will be concluded with a Coptic choral concert that will be performed by the Saint Demiana Church choir.
