The writer and novelist Mounir Oteiba, supervisor of the BA Narrative Review, has recently won the 2016 State Encouragement Prize, the very short story category, for his collection Rouh el-Hekaya (The Spirit of the Tale). This prize is particularly symbolic, as it is the first official recognition of the very short story as a literary genre (flash fiction).

It is worth mentioning that Oteiba organized the first Egyptian conference in 2013, which had 10 participating Arab countries, through the BA Narrative Review.

Oteiba published around 20 books, including novels, very short story collections, and books of literary criticism. He has received several awards and honors, including the Egyptian Writers' Union Award, the Ihsan Abdel Quddous Award, the American Hi Magazine Award, and el Sawy Culture Wheel Award. He was also honored in the Egyptian Writers Conference in 2011.
