The BA Children Choir—led by its Romanian Choir Master Rodica Ocheseanu and accompanied by pianist Mina Nabil —participated in The 6th International Children’s Choir Festival, which was held in Dresden, Germany, from 28 April to 3 May 2016. In addition to Egypt, the only Arab country to participate, five other countries participated in the festival, namely Germany, Austria, Russia, Hungary, and South Korea.

The choir included 38 participants, aged from 8 to 16 years old, and it performed three concerts throughout the festival. The choir’s performances included folk songs composed by Sayed Darwish and Awatef Abdel-Karim; Islamic and Coptic songs, such as “Tala' al Badru 'Alayna” and “Golgotha”; as well as the National Anthem, which was sung in the reception.

The choir members also participated in a group workshop to teach their songs to the others and to learn the songs of all the choirs participating in the festival. The choirs were trained to perform a group song in the closing ceremony of the festival, which was held at the Church of Our Lady and was conducted by Maestro Burger Gunter. Each choir separately practiced the two closing ceremony songs, “Bridge of Hope” and “Festival Sanctus”, before traveling to participate in the festival.
