The BA Art Exhibitions and Collections Department is organizing the BA 7th International Biennale for the Artist’s Book, that will showcase the artworks created by 73 artists from 12 different countries. Most of the participating artworks will be offered as a donation to the BA to enrich its permanent Artist’s Book collection. The exhibition will be inaugurated on 24 April 2016 at 5:00 pm and will continue until 23 May 2016.

Taking part in the exhibition is La Diane Française, a France-based publishing house that specializes in creating Artist’s Books. Since 2010, Jean-Paul Aureglia, Director of La Diane Française, has been keen on contributing to and participating in the Biennale, as well as donating valuable La Diane Française publications. Aureglia will be contributing in this round of the Biennale with 30 publications, including 10 original artistic books, 8 books from the Golden Legend collection, 7 from the Pocket Museum collection, and 5 from the Ceramic Sheets collection.

The Biennale will also include a section titled “Unbound” featuring the artworks created by 11 graduate students from the Art Department, College of Arts and Sciences, Stony Brook University. This addition will be held in collaboration with Nobuho Nagasawa, Art Professor at Stony Brook University, who is taking part in this Biennale for the second time since 2002.

Nagasawa will also present two seminars during the first day of the Biennale at 2:00 pm, one of which will be held at the BA premises, while the second seminar will be held on Thursday, 28 April at 7:00 pm at the Naguib Mahfouz Hall at Al Ahram Headquarters (Cairo).

Nagasawa will also moderate a workshop titled “Transforming Books: Modify, Inscribe, Cut, Paste, Fold, Draw, Stitch, Sculpt” at the BA on Wednesday, 27 April at 11:00 am.

Alongside the aforementioned events, a number of meetings with several participating artists will be held to familiarize the public with their artworks.
