BA Launches its First online Educational Course on edx

The BA has launched its first online education course on the edX online portal for educational courses that was established by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University.
The course is titled “Ancient Egyptian Civilization” and is the first result of the BA-edX cooperation agreement, which states that the BA will provide the edX website with free educational materials and lectures in Arabic and English, making them available to students and researchers around the world through the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) system.
The course, which will begin on 4 April 2016 using English as the language of instruction, aims to introduce students to the achievements and contributions of the ancient Egyptian civilization. The course will focus on the role of women in ancient Egypt, ancient Egyptian writing and the invention papyrus, medical contributions, and the architecture of the Pyramids and temples.
edX is an open-access online educational program established by MIT and Harvard University in May 2012 to offer free online lectures in different languages. The aim of the BA participation in the program is to encourage university students to enroll in BA programs and to encourage Egyptian students to acquire new skills.
This course will be taught by Dr. Ahmed Borham, Professor of Ancient Egyptian Architecture and Director of the Tour Guides Training Project at the Alexandria Tour Guides Syndicate, and Marwa Assem, Researcher at the BA Academic Research Sector with an MA in English Literature.
