The BA is currently preparing to host the “Nurturing Extremism: A Reading of the Measures of Intellectual Confrontation” Conference, which will be held from 3 to 5 January 2016 in the presence of over 250 intellectuals and researchers from Egypt, the Arab world, the UK, and Italy.
The conference will cover a number of topics, including the attention paid by social sciences to the phenomenon of extremism and developing research methods utilized by Arab universities to give priority to topics related to political science, social science, psychology, and others. In this regard, the production of research centers and the results of university studies are looked into in order to develop scientific content to combat extremism.
The rise of extremism will also be examined, in addition to criticizing its religious discourse, supported by clear evidence.
The conference will include a special session to present the plan to create an Arab network of research centers concerned with examining extremist thought. The session will also showcase the international activities, in which the BA took part, held at Oxford University, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Jordan.
In the next two years, the BA is set to organize numerous events in collaboration with the Isa Cultural Center in Bahrain and the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Saudi Arabia, in addition to seminars in Kuwait, the UAE, and Algeria.
