BA Organizes 3D Show about the Legendary Cleopatra
Posted on
The BA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Antiquities, is organizing an outstanding 3D video mapping titled “Legendary Cleopatra”. It will be projected on the façade of the Qaitbey Citadel on 17 September 2015 at 7:00 pm and will be repeated every 45 minutes.
Using the technology of augmented reality, the show narrates the story of the legendary Cleopatra, one of the mystical legends of Alexandria, the pearl of the Mediterranean.
This event is part of the International Augmented Med project (I AM)—an international cooperation initiative funded by the European Union and ENPI CBC Med. The project aims to promote touristic and archaeological sites as well as natural and cultural heritage using the latest technological applications that depend on visual and sound effects. This strategy will result in revitalizing the tourism sector and promoting archaeological sites and natural and cultural heritage. By supporting this vital sector, the project is also contributing to the development of economy and tourism in the Mediterranean region.
The project budget is € 3.060.650, of which € 2.754.583 is funded by the program and the remainder is provided by the project’s 14 partners from 7 Mediterranean countries: Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Palestine, Tunisia, Spain, and Lebanon.
This is the second 3D show organized by the BA after the success of last year’s show, which was projected on the façade of the BA walls. The event was a promotional success and was posted on the UNWTO calendar of events; a calendar which provides a comprehensive list of tourism events all over the world.
The UNWTO website covers the most significant touristic events worldwide. The “Legendary Cleopatra” show and “Augmented Reality: 3D Video Mapping Show on Ancient Alexandria”, which was also organized by Alex Med Center in May 2014, were the first two Alexandrian events to be promoted on the UNWTO website. They were posted as part of the UN’s recognition of the BA’s pivotal role in the region. Five other Egyptian events were also posted on the UNWTO website before.
Free invitations are available at the BA Alex-Med Center. For more information, please follow the event’s Facebook page.
