The BA Celebrates Women in Science, 23-24 October 2007

The BA organizes on 23 October 2007 a two-day conference entitled "Women in Science" to shed lights on the role of women in this field, as part of the celebration of the BA's fifth anniversary.
The conference, which will be attended by several scholars, distinguished figures, and female leaders from all over the world, will discuss several themes including: the education of women, women in executive and managerial positions (public/private sector, education, and NGOs), obstacles under the social context including balancing home and career, and applications of science to benefit women and improve their livelihood.
Recent statistics show that only one third of the women’s population work in medicine, engineering, and science, whereas the rest work in agriculture, handicrafts, and other professions. In the world of globalization, more emphasis is being put on enhancing science and technology in the developing nations. A goal that could only be achieved through the mobilization of all human resources in these nations; the recognition of the role of women as key players is crucial towards the success of this endeavor, as women have a greater influence on the next generation. Thus, "Women in Science" conference is crucial to recognize and effectuate the role of women in science and technology to enhance science and technology capacity in developing countries in specific and the entire world in general.
