Mounir Oteiba, supervisor of the BA Narrative Review, has announced that creative writers from four Arab countries (Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, and Sudan) have been awarded the 2014 Alexandria Horus Award for Arabic Narrative (First Round - Novel).
The first round of the Alexandria Horus Award for Arabic Narrative (Novel) was jointly launched by the BA Narrative Review and the Horus International Foundation for Publishing and Distribution. The Award was open to writers who, by November 2014, were younger than 40 years old. Submitted novels had to have never been published before, neither in print nor electronically, and had to be less than fifty thousand words. In addition to that, submitted works should not have been entered into other competitions or awards.
The winners were given, along with the members of the jury, merit plaques and certificates of merit on Tuesday, 10 February 2015 at the Egyptian Publishers Association tent at the Cairo International Book Fair.
In addition to the plaques and certificates of merit, the top five winning novels will be published then distributed at Arab and international book fairs that are helping achieve the primary goal of the competition, which is to discover and promote works written by young Arab creative writers.
