The BA Mourns the Passing of Renowned Author Moustafa Nasr

The BA mourns with great sorrow the passing of renowned author Moustafa Nasr, who died on Sunday, 9 November 2025. Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, on behalf of the Library management and staff, extends his sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
Originally from Sohag in Upper Egypt, Moustafa Nasr was an Egyptian writer born in Alexandria. He had a passion for literature since his youth and practiced dramatic writing for Alexandria Radio for several years. He was distinguished by his exceptional ability to accurately portray Alexandrian street life in his works which were translated into different languages and for which he earned a number of awards.
He was honored by the Local Authority for the Care of Arts, Literature, and Social Sciences in Alexandria as a symbol of creativity in the city. The Alexandria branch of the Writers' Union held a one-day conference to discuss his work, and he was selected for an honor from the Sharjah Foundation in the United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, as one of the symbols of Arabic literature. Some of his novels have been selected as course material for students in the Arabic Language Department of the Faculty of Arts and for students in the Screenwriting Department of the Cinema Institute.
