Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, announced that the BA is in the process of organizing an international forum for peace and tolerance under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which comes as part of the Library’s interest in building bridges of cooperation and understanding between different cultures and societies around the world, and in delivering an important message of the need to open up to all humanity.
This came during the speech of Dr. Ahmed Zayed, as part of the League of Islamic Universities Conference, which took place yesterday, 15 May 2024, under the title "The Role of Universities in Building Bridges of Understanding and Peace between the East and West.”
Dr. Zayed said that the BA takes pride in hosting this remarkable conference, which brings together a huge crowd of scientists and thinkers. He also mentioned that the conference is discussing a crucial issue because it is related to the world that is witnessing several changes, some of which are positive, such as technological development, and others are negative, which contradict ethics and humanity, as the number of displaced people has reached 76 million due to wars and conflicts.
