The Bibliotheca Alexandrina celebrated the end of the summer activities of the Children and Young People’s Libraries – a celebration that concluded all the different creative and interactive cultural activities that took place over the summer. The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA.
This year’s children celebration was entitled “The Secret of the Papyrus”, and provided an overview of the Pharaonic period through an operetta that linked ancient Egypt with the modern age. The performance was directed by Islam Refaat, written by Eman El-Shimy, and choreographed by dancer Mary Salib.
Meanwhile, the Young People’s Library celebration was titled “Lead the Way, Make a Difference”, and included a number of different artistic segments, notably a theatrical performance by director Houreya El-Dakkak, based on the story Bent Al-Shaytan (The Devil’s Daughter) by writer Mahmoud Taymour. The celebration also featured various dance performances choreographed by Jihan Shaarawy, and musical segments supervised by Ryan Zakaria.
Moreover, a number of remarkable BA members who actively participated in the activities of the Children and Young People’s Libraries were honored as part of the celebration, together with all the lecturers who delivered the summer events and the “Parents Lectures”, which tackled several topics that are of concern to the family. These topics covered mental health, the methods of appropriate education, and the means of dealing with the different personalities of children and young people.
