The Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Embassy of Belgium presented the book Belgians on the Nile: A History of Royal Visits, Entrepreneurship, and Archaeological Exploration in Egypt, during a ceremony that took place at the Embassy yesterday, in celebration of the King’s Feast.

Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandria, said that the book represents an aspect of the extensive and diverse relationship between Egypt and Belgium, from the perspective of the most distinguished senior representatives of Belgium. He pointed out that the book is a supplement to the photo exhibition organized in 2017, in partnership with the Dr. Khaled El-Enany, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.

He also added that the book features a collection of some of the most remarkable photographs of the Belgian Royal Family’s official visits to Egypt, which began in 1855, and continued until 2019.

These visits highlight the longstanding diplomatic relations between Egypt and Belgium, as well as the friendship between the people of both countries in all fields, from archaeology to economics and politics. They also underscore the Belgians’ continuous passion for the cultural treasures of Egypt.
