Bringing the Library of Alexandria to you at Home: Live tours of the Library of Alexandria

Dr. Mostafa ElFeki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, announced the launch of the BA Cultural Outreach Sector initiative entitled “Bringing the Library of Alexandria to you at Home”, as part of the efforts exerted by the Library of Alexandria to reach out to the public and convey its various activities remotely to Arab and Egyptian audience. This initiative comes in line with the precautionary measures adopted by Egyptian state institutions to avoid the spread of coronavirus.
This initiative aims to reach out to the Library visitors during April 2020 and until Ramadan through a program of live tours inside various BA museums and exhibitions. These tours will be broadcasted live via the BA YouTube channel and its official Facebook page.
Commencing on Monday, 13 April 2020 at 12:00 noon, the initiative features a live tour of Sadat Museum for half an hour, followed by another live tour of the Manuscripts Museum from 1:00 pm until 1:30 pm.
On Wednesday, 15 April 2020, the initiative presents a live tour of the Antiquities Museum from 12:00 noon until 12:30 ppm, followed by another tour of the History of Science Museum at the Planetarium Science Center (PSC) at 1:00 pm.
The initiative concludes on Wednesday, 22 April 2020 with an astronomical event sighting the Ramadan Crescent at the PSC.
Tours and online events will be announced on a weekly basis and in case of any modification or postponement of any pre-scheduled event, an announcement will be posted on the BA website and social media accounts.
