“She Excels in Science: Afro-Women Rule!”

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a roundtable discussion as part of the program “She Excels in Science: Afro-Women Rule!”, co-organized by the Library's Information for Africa (BAIFA) and the Women Studies and Social Transformation (WSST) Program. It is worth mentioning that BAIFA launched this program on 8 March 2018 in recognition of the major role played by African women in the advancement of science and scientific research in Africa.
The roundtable discussion brings together Professor Nagwa Abdel Meguid, Egyptian geneticist and laureate of the L’Oréal UNESCO Award for Women in Science for Africa and the Middle East; Professor Mona K. Marei, Professor of Prosthetic Dentistry and Founder and Head of Tissue Engineering Science and Technology/Laboratories at Alexandria University, Egypt; Dr. Sherien Elagroudy, Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering at Ain Shams University, Egypt, and Next Einstein Forum Fellow and L’Oréal UNESCO Fellow; Dr. Yasmine Aguib, Head of Life Sciences Research at the Aswan Heart Centre (Magdi Yacoub Foundation, Egypt) and Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London ; and Ms. Nahla Mokhtar, Corporate Communication Manager at L’Oréal Foundation.
In this regard, a number of Egypt-based African students at the American University in Cairo and the African and Asian Affairs section at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, are invited to share their own success stories.
The discussion will take place on 21 November, at 10:30 am, in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center – Multipurpose Hall. Registration is required on the event date.
Places are limited to prior registrations. Simultaneous translation is available in Arabic, English and French.
