In partnership with VI-SEEM, the BA held a one-day national dissemination event on 28 September 2017 at the BA premises. The event aims to introduce the EU-funded project and to pinpoint the different resources provided by the BA to different research communities in Egypt.
During the event, participants were introduced to the Virtual Museums Framework (VirMuF) application, which is a tool developed by the BA using advanced programming and graphic techniques and is going to be employed within VI-SEEM for constructing virtual museums. The BA High Performance Cluster (BA-HPC) infrastructure was also presented to the attendees, who then participated in an hour of hands-on HPC experience, followed by a visit to the BA-HPC facility and a general tour of the BA.
VI-SEEM aims to create a unique Virtual Research Environment (VRE) in Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean (SEEM), with special focus on the scientific communities of Life Sciences, Climatology, and Digital Cultural Heritage.
The event is held within the framework of the BA’s contribution in the VI-SEEM project to support scientific research and endorse the dissemination of knowledge in Egypt. In this context, the BA provides access to its upgraded super-computing facility (BA-HPC C2) to researchers, and it shares its expertise in using advanced 3D scanning and imaging techniques in digital cultural heritage applications through organizing several events and workshops targeting research and scientific communities.
