The BA participates in IFLA

Alexandria—A high-level team of The Bibliotheca Alexandrina participated in the 69th International
Federation of Library Associations and Institutions IFLA General Conference and
Council, which brought together more than 4,000 participants from all over the
world. The IFLA World Library and Information Congress was held this year in
Berlin, Germany from 1–9 August, 2003. The Conference’s theme focused on
“Access Point Library: Media, Information and Culture”. A delegation of nine
members from both the Library Services Department and the Manuscripts and Rare
Books Department of the BA participated in this worldwide event. The BA
Librarians participated in the session that discussed “Libraries for Children and Young Adults”. During the session,
Mrs. Layla Abdelhady, Director of the Library Services Department introduced
three programs used and implemented in the BA’s Children and Young People’s
