Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA, signed two agreements with the World Bank to be implemented during the period from December 2015 to December 2016.
The first agreement on “Collaboration in Distance Learning and edX Platform Implementation” aims to build networks and develop content for youth and the civil society in the MENA region, North Africa, and beyond. The participation of the BA as a contributing member in the edX platform, which was initiated by MIT and Harvard to revolutionize education worldwide, will provide opportunities for wide audience in the MENA region including youth and the civil society to learn, engage, and interact with other people worldwide, and become part of a global network of learning and cultural dissemination.
The second agreement, titled “Youth for Change: A Program to Identify Future Arab ICT Leaders”, provides opportunities to recognize and nurture young Arab talents in the ICT field. This program had already been implemented by the BA in partnership with a Canadian NGO, and due to its great success, the BA plans to relaunch the program to create a functional network for these young, talented, Arab IT entrepreneurs across the MENA region.
