President Al-Sisi Meets with Dr. Ismail Serageldin and Praises BA Role in Knowledge Dissemination

President Abdelfatah al-Sisi met with Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA, on Tuesday, 7 April 2015 to review a number of the BA’s activities and projects. Dr. Ismail Serageldin discussed with the President the high level BA Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting that will take place on 18 April 2015 under the auspices of the President, who is also chairman of the BoT. The meeting will be attended by five former presidents (from Serbia, Colombia, Albania, Romania, and Latvia), the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, and a number of internationally well-known figures. The President reviewed some of the BA’s projects that were organized in cooperation with different Egyptian ministries and institutions. Among these projects is the BA “Embassies of Knowledge”. These embassies provide BA services in several Egyptian universities across Egypt. Dr. Serageldin also mentioned that the BA is collaborating with Al-Azhar to document the history of this prestigious historic institution, both as a university and a mosque. They will also work together to publish important literary works that advocate moderate religious discourse. Finally, the President praised the positive efforts made by the BA in different fields and its role in the dissemination of culture and knowledge, especially through its cooperation with Al-Azhar to spread the values and principles of moderate Islam. The President also expressed his support for the activities carried out by the BA nationally and internationally. President Al-Sisi stressed the importance of increasing the BA’s role in remote areas and governorates along with encouraging youth and nurturing their creative talents in different cultural and artistic fields.
